I have the same problem, only from shifting up from 4th to 5th.
I always thought that my Savage has a problom here, obviously this is a common
thing about most Savages.
I always have problems shifting from 4th to 5th, back down is no problem.
I can never tell whether the gear is in or not, it's quite hard pulling the footlever up.
I always have the feeling that the gear locks in just at the moment when I let the
handlebarlever let go again. I might be wrong but it would interest me if anyone else
has encounterd this problem before.
